From there it's about a 2-minute walk into the terminal, there's no shuttle, and the car goes to a secure off-airport compound while you're away.

The main difference is who's behind the service. Sure Parking Meet & Greet is run by Sure Parking Ltd, which stores cars in its own compound, not shared with any other meet and greet company. Bubble Meet & Greet is run by I Love Meet & Greet. You also phone at different times: about 20 minutes before you reach the terminal for Sure Parking Meet & Greet, and about 10 minutes before for Bubble Meet & Greet. When you get back to Bubble Meet & Greet, you're given a pre-paid ticket to drive out with.

Verdict: These two are closely matched, so the price difference for your dates should do most of the deciding. Go with whichever is cheaper, they're both sound options.

There's no shuttle, the terminal is about a 2-minute walk away, the drivers are fully insured, and both are Flexible on our site.

The main difference is the company holding your keys, and the terminals each covers. APH Meet & Greet South Terminal Only is run by APH, whose chauffeurs take the car to APH's secure off-site compound, and it's for South Terminal only. Sure Parking Meet & Greet is run by Sure Parking Ltd, which keeps cars in its own compound, not shared with any other meet and greet company, and it covers North Terminal as well. You phone APH about 30 minutes before you reach the airport, or Sure Parking Meet & Greet about 20 minutes before.

Height is where they part ways. Both meet you under the same 2-metre limit at South Terminal, but if your vehicle is taller and you tell APH when you call, its chauffeur will meet you in the open car park next to the Orange Car Park. Sure Parking Meet & Greet doesn't take minibuses, long wheelbase vans or motorhomes.

Verdict: Taller than 2 metres? APH Meet & Greet South Terminal Only is probably the safer choice. In a standard car, the handover is the same either way, so pick whichever is cheaper for your dates, they're both sound options.

At North Terminal, both meet you inside the Short Stay car park rather than on the forecourt. You take a ticket at the barrier, hand your keys to a uniformed, fully insured driver in the area signed Approved Operators, and walk to the terminal in a couple of minutes. Both have a 1.8-metre height limit there, and both are Flexible on our site.

The main difference is how the return works. APH Meet & Greet North Terminal gives you a return ticket when you drop off. When you land, you follow the exit signs after customs, walk back to the Short Stay car park and show that ticket to the APH driver waiting with your car. With Sure Parking Meet & Greet, you collect your luggage, phone Sure Parking and go back to the meeting point where you left the car. You also phone APH about 30 minutes before you arrive, compared with about 20 minutes for Sure Parking Meet & Greet.

If you're worried about scratches, both note the car's condition at the handover. The APH driver checks the car when you hand it over, and Sure Parking normally photographs it to record any existing damage.

Verdict: From North Terminal, the routine and the height limit are the same, so this one comes down to the price difference for your dates. Whichever is cheaper, you're in good hands.

With Sure Parking Meet & Greet, you drive to the Short Stay car park at your terminal, hand the car to a driver in an orange jacket and walk to the terminal in about 2 minutes. With Cophall Parking, you drive to Copthorne, check in at reception and take a minibus, which takes around 10 minutes to South Terminal and around 15 minutes to North Terminal. Cophall asks you to allow 30 minutes from check-in to arriving at Gatwick.

Some drivers worry about leaving their car with strangers. On that point, Sure Parking says its drivers are carefully selected, vetted and trained, while Cophall's terms say it photographs cars when it receives them.

The upside to Cophall Parking is that it's a park and ride, which usually works out cheaper than Meet & Greet, leaving you to weigh up whether the walk-in convenience is worth the extra.

Verdict: Early flight or heavy bags? Where the price difference is small, Sure Parking Meet & Greet's handover at the airport is probably worth it. If Cophall Parking is noticeably cheaper for your dates and you don't mind the minibus, it's probably the better value.

The upside to Cophall Parking Super Saver is that, as a Non-Flex park and ride, it's usually the cheaper of the two, leaving you to weigh up whether giving up flexibility and the handover at the airport is worth the saving.

APH Park & Ride is also Super-Flex, so you can amend or cancel free of charge right up to your booked arrival time. Sure Parking Meet & Greet is Flexible, up to 24 hours before, and a change the day before has to go to Sure Parking directly on 07855 551 177.

Verdict: If your plans could change at the last minute, or your vehicle is too tall for Sure Parking Meet & Greet's meeting points, APH Park & Ride is a real plus. If you'd rather skip the bus at both ends, Sure Parking Meet & Greet probably makes more sense where the price difference is small.
