Described as the “best value” parking option by the airport, Long Stay 3 is a cheap car park suitable for long stays. It’s a few minutes from the terminal and the price typically reflects this.

You can park here even if you’re only planning on a short stay. It just means that you’ll have to add a few extra minutes to your journey and lug your baggage a little further.

SEN SACP Park & Ride

SEN SACP Park & Ride is an off-airport car park provided by a third party. This means that it’s not offered by the airport directly and the car park itself is located outside the airport. It’s usually the cheaper option and is ideal for long stays.

Once you have parked securely in the car park, simply wait for one of the shuttle buses and then take the 5-minute journey to the airport. If you’re happy with a short bus ride, there’s no reason not to consider this unofficial Southend Airport parking option.

Southend Airport Information

Southend Airport is located about 36 miles from the centre of London, serving Greater London and southern Essex. It has a single runway that spans 1,856 metres and it is considered to be one of the best airports in the capital.

In fact, in 2013, 2014, and 2015 it was voted the best airport in Britain by Which?. It was also voted the best London airport for 6 consecutive years, beginning in 2019.

The airport handles over 2 million passengers a year, with dozens of flights to destinations across Europe. In 2019, the most popular route was Amsterdam, with over 200,000 passengers heading there. Alicante, Malaga, and Faro followed closely behind.

Southend Airport is home to the SKYLIFE Lounge @ The Pilot Café. The lounge itself is actually closed at the time of writing, but The Pilot Café is open. It provides a selection of complimentary drinks, including alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, and hot drinks.

You’ll get a nice and quiet place to relax, complimentary snacks, and free WiFi. Book in advance online or drop by on the day and pay at the reception desk.

Shopping at Southend Airport

There are a handful of shops, bars, and restaurants at Southend Airport, including WHSmith and World Duty Free. You can grab a bite to eat, enjoy a few drinks, buy some books/magazines for the journey, exchange currency, and more.

Southend Airport Drop Off/Pick Up Information

It’s rare to find free pick-up or drop-off options anywhere near airport terminals, but Southend Airport is the exception. There is a free option just a 3 to 5-minute walk from the terminal.

You can also head to the Short Stay car park, where you’ll pay £5 for stays of up to 10 minutes. The latter option is much closer and so it’s best suited for quick drop-offs and pick-ups, especially when a large amount of luggage is involved.
