Official Options

If it’s official, it means that it’s provided by the airport and secured by them. The most notable difference between Official and Unofficial car parks, however, is that the former tend to be much closer to the airport.

Long Stay

Long Stay is best for travellers who are parking for at least a week. It’s the cheapest official option and it will also ensure that your vehicle is protected and secured throughout the duration of your stay.

Many Long Stay car parks are located a long walk from the terminal and taking the shuttle bus is the only viable option. That’s not necessarily the case here, as you can walk to the terminal in just 8 minutes. However, there is still a frequent shuttle bus running from the car park to the terminal and this will get you there quicker.

You probably have lots of luggage with you, so be patient and wait for the bus! Save those legs for your sightseeing trips. Or just for walking from the beach to the bar.

Short Stay

If it’s important for you to reach the terminal as quickly as possible, check out the Short Stay option. The car park is located across from the terminal building, so you’re just a short walk away.

Park your car in a covered spot, grab your luggage, and keep your keys as you head for the terminal building. On your return, just make a beeline for the same space and drive away.

On arrival, you’ll need to drive up to the barrier and wait for it to scan your registration. If you haven’t pre-booked, simply press the button to get a ticket printed.

Priority

Priority Parking is the ultimate in convenience and speed at Glasgow Airport. There is a dedicated floor for parking your car and you’ll have easy access to the terminal, making this the ideal option for business or leisure travellers with little time to waste.

It’s not just the parking that’s convenient, either. Priority Parking also comes with Priority Security access, letting you take a fast lane through security and avoid the queues. You still need to go through the usual checks, which means you and your luggage will be scanned. But if there’s a queue holding everyone up, you can avoid the chaos and head to your gate or the duty free.

Priority Parking is a flexible booking option, so it can be changed to accommodate flight delays or changes. It can also be cancelled. Just make sure you make the necessary amendments at least 24 hours before you fly.

Blue Badge Parking

There are a number of Blue Badge parking spaces at Glasgow Airport.

In Car Park 2, for instance, you will find a total of 10 Blue Badge spaces and a help point on the ground floor. The other floors have 12 spaces, but no help points. There are also accessible lifts throughout, making this the ideal option for Blue Badge holders.

Car Park 1 has 4 Blue Badge spaces on the ground floor, but there is no call point, so keep this in mind if you’re parking there.

In all cases, Blue Badge spaces are available for free for 30 minutes. To qualify, simply show your badge at the kiosk.

Unofficial Options

Unofficial parking at Glasgow Airport is provided by third-party operators whose car parks are located off-site. It means you’ll need to add a little more travel time to your journey, but as these options are often cheaper, it’s usually worth it.

Some of the off-airport parking solutions at Glasgow Airport include Parksafe, which is located just a few minutes away by shuttle transfer; Skyport, a 6-minute Park & Ride service, and Airparks ShortRun, which is also 6 minutes away.

Alternatively, there is a Stress Free Meet & Greet service. Simply drive to the Holiday Inn opposite and you will be met by an experienced and insured valet. They will take your keys and your car, find a safe parking space, and then return the vehicle when you land. Your car will be parked in a secure and monitored car park while you are away.

Airport Info

Glasgow Airport Information

Glasgow Airport is located in Paisley, a fraction under 10 miles from the centre of Glasgow. It’s one of two airports serving the area—the other being Prestwick—and it’s by far the biggest of the two.

When Glasgow Airport first began offering international flights, it actually took a lot of business away from its neighbouring airport. These days, Glasgow Airport is one of the biggest in the United Kingdom while Prestwick mainly serves Ryanair and flies to a handful of destinations across Europe.

Glasgow Airport handles between 8 and 10 million passengers a year, about 1.5 million of which fly to Heathrow or Gatwick. These London airports are the two busiest routes flying from Glasgow Airport and they are closely followed by Dublin and Amsterdam.

In 2019, Dubai was the most popular non-European destination, with over 430,000 travellers heading there via Emirates.

The biggest and busiest airlines at Glasgow Airport are British Airways, Loganair, and easyJet. It also serves as a base for TUI Airways, KLM, Lufthansa, Aer Lingus, and Ryanair.

There was a time when lounges like this were the preserve of big-spender first-class and business-class travellers and many passengers still think of them in a similar regard. But that’s not the case for the majority of airport lounges and it’s definitely not true for the two available at Glasgow Airport.

The UpperDeck Lounge is open from 5 am to 8:30 pm while the Lomond Lounge opens from 6:30 am to 6 pm on most days.

You’ll get food and drink and can stay for up to 3 hours at a time. You must pay for these amenities though. Prices vary, but you can expect to pay around £35 per person for the Lomond Lounge.

Also, it’s worth noting that while drinks are complimentary, there are limits placed on how many alcoholic drinks you can order.
