Short Stay parking is available at Birmingham Airport and is ideal for those making a short trip, i.e., a 24-hour business trip or a weekend getaway. If you’re planning on leaving your car for longer periods, it will be worth looking at other more cost-effective options.
Official Short Stay options at Birmingham Airport are referred to as Car Parks 1, 2, and 3, all of which are within a 1-minute walk of the terminal. They offer excellent convenience, but you do pay a premium for this and Short Stay options are more expensive than Long Stay ones.
Although it’s not the cheapest option, valet parking is one of the most convenient if you want easy access to the terminal.
Simply head for the Valet Parking Car Park next to Car Park 3, collect your bags from your car, and then drop off your keys. A valet will securely park your car. It will be monitored in the car park and will be waiting for you when you return.
It’s especially handy if you’re worried that you’ll be stuck driving around for 20 minutes looking for a car parking space. You can leave the stressing to the valet—at least they don’t have a plane to catch.
Driving on two wheels instead of four? Just head for Car Park 2 and look for the sheltered area designated for motorcycles. Refrain from parking your bike in a standard parking bay, as you’ll be charged the full rate.
There are no anchor points in the car park.
Officially known as Car Parks 4, 5, and 7, these options are perfect for those who are going to be leaving their vehicles for an extended period of time and don’t mind a slightly longer walk to the terminal.
Whilst it’s possible to turn up without a reservation to any of these official car parks, we strongly recommend you book in advance to get the best rates.
Car Parks 4 and 5 are just a 10-minute walk away from the terminal.
Car Park 7 is a 10-minute shuttle bus journey to the terminal and buses operate 24 hours a day.

This is one of the major unofficial parking operators at Birmingham Airport. Airparks offer off-airport (outside the perimeter of the airport) parking options as detailed below.
Airparks Birmingham is located 4 miles from the terminal. It’s fairly close, but we still recommend that you allow for around 1-hour transfer time to account for any unexpected delays.
Bus transfers to the terminal are available every 25 minutes but must be requested between the hours of midnight and 3 am. If you’re carrying exceptionally large items, such as bikes or skis, you will not be allowed to board the shuttle bus. You’ll have to drop these items off at the terminal with another passenger from your party before arriving at your Airparks car park.

APH Birmingham Self Park is a highly regarded, unofficial, off-site parking provider.
The car park is located a 15-minute drive (or shuttle bus journey) from the airport terminal, but we suggest you allow one hour if you’re going to be arriving in peak traffic! Birmingham is notoriously bad for traffic.
The APH shuttle bus is available on demand, 24 hours a day.
Birmingham Airport was formerly known as Birmingham International Airport and is positioned around 8 miles southeast of the city centre.
The airport officially opened in July 1939. As with many airports, it was taken over by the military and used by the RAF and the Royal Navy during the second world war where it became a hub for flight training and wartime production.
Since the airport reopened to the public in 1946, it has snowballed in size, handling 12.9 million passengers in 2017, ranking it the UK’s 7th busiest airport.
Numbers fell a little during 2018 and 2019, but they remained above 12 million.
Birmingham Airport offers flights with many of the major European airlines but services extend far beyond Europe. For instance, the second most popular destination in 2019 was Dubai, with over 700,000 travellers heading to the middle eastern destination.
Over 50 airlines fly from Birmingham Airport Birmingham Airport has the capability to handle multiple runways and over 70 million passengers following future development It flies direct to over 150 destinations Birmingham Airport has two terminals and one runway The length of the runway is 3,052m It is owned by Seven Metropolitan Boroughs of West Midlands & Airport Group Investments Ltd 10 million people live within an hour’s drive of the airport
Birmingham Airport offers a premium service known as Express Lane Security. It costs £5 per person if you’re booking online and £6 if you pay at the desk on arrival. It’s basically a separate queue that lets you skip the main line. It could be worth considering if you’re short on time (and patience) and travelling during a very busy period.
Kids under 5 get this option for free providing they are travelling with a paying adult.
It should also be noted that there is no Express Lane for Check-In Zone A, so you’ll need to head to Zones B to D if you purchase this service.
For more convenience and luxury at Birmingham Airport, check out one of the airport’s lounges:
Aspire Lounge
Includes views of the runway, free WiFi, charging facilities, food/drink, and access to over 7,000 digital newspapers and magazines. It is available to all passengers regardless of the airline they use.
There is also an Aspire Lounge in the South Departure Lounge. You will find it next to gate 1 and it offers many of the same amenities.
Emirates Lounge
A large, luxury lounge created with business travellers in mind. There is food, drink, charging stations, TV, and everything else you can imagine. It even comes with a shower area and its own complimentary chauffeur to get you anywhere within 70 miles of the airport.
No1 Lounge
The No1 Lounge is a stylish and relaxing lounge that includes a bistro, sports lounge, and great runway views. There are freshly prepared meals, a fully tended bar, and lots of digital newspapers and magazines. You can even download them and take them on your flight.
Incidentally, access used to cost less than £29.50 for adults but increased at the beginning of 2023. The price for children also rose by £2.
Clubrooms
With runway views, comfortable seating, food/drinks, and digital newspapers, Clubrooms is a relaxing way to kill time before your flight.
It is also a child-free zone, so if you’re worried about noisy kids getting in the way of your business meetings, work, or napping, it’s a good option. Kids over 12 are welcome though.
EV charging points are powered by Gridserve, they have the following connectors:
They can be used by non Gridserve members and contactless payment is accepted.
The tariff for the Premium Set Down area is published in the ‘Drop Off’ tab, but reduced tariffs are available for:
-Customers who have used one of the Official Birmingham Airport car parks. If this is you, you’ll be granted your release, free of charge, from Premium Drop Off on presentation of a valid booking confirmation!
-For users of the Premium Set Down, tariff is reduced to £2 for first 90 minutes and thereafter, charges are £5 per 15 minutes. To get the reduced tariff you should go to the customer services cabin.
We research EV options for all the UK airports and the above is pretty good, given that most cars will reach a very high charge percentage within 90 minutes.
