How Can I Get Cheap Airport Parking at Stansted Airport?

The answer depends on your requirements. Do you want to keep your keys? Are you happy to take a shuttle bus? Do you want to book an official (airport owned) option, or are you happy to leave your car with a trusted third party?

There are a couple of Stansted quirks worth knowing too. The official Mid Stay car park can work out cheaper than the official Long Stay, despite being closer to the terminal. And the Official Meet & Greet is often far cheaper than you'd expect. So don't assume "Long Stay" means cheapest, or that Meet & Greet is out of your budget.

What's the Cheapest Way to Park at Stansted Airport?

The cheapest way to park at Stansted Airport is usually to book an independent Park & Ride in advance, generally the cheapest available through Cheap Airport Parking will be I Love Park & Ride, APH Park & Ride or Maple Park & Ride. The exact price ranking amongst those three varies depending on dates.

If you'd rather keep your keys, the official Mid Stay car park is usually the next cheapest option. And if you'd rather avoid a shuttle bus altogether, the Official Meet & Greet is worth a look, as it can be surprisingly close in price.

Cheapest Official Stansted Airport Parking Options

If you'd rather stick with Stansted Airport's own car parks (the official ones), Mid Stay and Long Stay are the two bus-served options. In both cases you park the car yourself, keep your keys and take a free bus to the terminal.

Is Mid Stay or Long Stay Cheaper at Stansted Airport?

You'd expect Long Stay to be the cheaper of the two, and sometimes it is. A quick glance at the snapshot table above will show you if that’s the case for our sample dates and if you’re interested in making a booking, get a quote for your exact dates and times.

Putting price to one side, Mid Stay has a shorter shuttle bus ride, taking only around 7 minutes with buses running every 10 minutes. Whereas the Long Stay bus takes around 15 minutes and runs every 15 minutes. It’s not a huge difference, but if we’re looking at a tie-breaker situation on price, this could be the deciding factor!

Our advice: If Mid Stay is the same price or cheaper, it's probably an easy call. If Long Stay is noticeably cheaper and you don't mind the longer bus, Long Stay is probably the better value.

Cheapest Independent Stansted Airport Parking Options

Independent off-site car parks can be cheaper still and you can be sure that at Cheap Airport Parking, we only list those run by reputable third parties. In the table below, we've displayed prices for several solid independent options:

Independent Stansted Airport car parkPrice for a 7-day stayYour keysTransfer to the airportQuote
I Love Park & Ride£59.00You leave your keysShuttle bus, about 5 minutesGet Quote
APH Park & Ride£66.00You leave your keysShuttle bus, about 5 minutesGet Quote
Maple Parking£67.99You leave your keysShuttle bus, about 5 minutesGet Quote

All three are a similar deal: you hand over your keys, and the shuttle bus to the terminal takes around 5 minutes. That's shorter than either of the official shuttle bus rides, which makes these a genuinely strong option rather than just a cheap one. All three also offer flexible booking, which is handy if there's any chance your plans might change. Of course, check the flexibility terms for yourself before committing to pay for your booking.

Is Official or Independent Parking Cheaper at Stansted Airport?

At Stansted Airport, the independent Park & Ride car parks are usually cheaper than the official Mid Stay and Long Stay car parks, you’ll get a feel for this by looking at our snapshot tables.

The main difference is the keys. With the official car parks, you keep them. With I Love Park & Ride, APH Park & Ride and Maple Parking, you hand them over.

If you're not comfortable with someone else moving your car, it may be worth paying a little extra for Mid Stay. It's a judgement call.

Cheapest Stansted Airport Meet & Greet Options

Meet & Greet is generally at the pricier end of the scale, but it means no shuttle bus. You drive to the terminal, hand your car over to a driver and walk to check-in. When you land, your car is brought back to you, of course by necessity all of these options require you to leave your keys and for you to be OK with an insured professional driving your car.

The standout here is the Official Meet & Greet. In our snapshot, it cost a fraction of the independent Meet & Greet services and was cheaper than every walk-to-the-terminal car park at the airport. If you hate shuttle buses, it could be argued that it's the best value parking at Stansted, full stop.

Take a good look at the snapshot above, from time to time the official Meet & Greet can be cheaper than the third party options.

Oh, and if you want your car cleaned while you're away, I Love Meet & Greet with Valet will be right up your alley!

Is Park & Ride or Meet & Greet Cheaper at Stansted Airport?

Park & Ride is usually the cheaper of the two at Stansted Airport. However, the price difference between the cheapest Park & Ride and the Official Meet & Greet can be surprisingly small and if that’s the case for your dates, it’s difficult to argue against using Official Meet & Greet.

So if you'd rather skip the shuttle bus altogether, great for those with kids, heavy luggage, or a general disdain for buses, the Official Meet & Greet may well be worth the extra. If you're travelling light and the bus doesn't bother you, Park & Ride is probably the better value.

Cheapest On-Airport Stansted Airport Parking Options

If you'd rather keep your keys and walk to the terminal, the Short Stay car parks are your answer. You pay for that convenience, though, and the closer you get, the more you pay.

Often, Short Stay Blue Zone is the cheapest of the bunch, but it's also the longest walk, around 10 to 12 minutes. The Premium zones (Orange, Red and Yellow) get you within a few minutes of the terminal, but you should study our snapshot table to understand the likely cost of cutting down the step count.

Keep in mind that prices fluctuate, so you should always get a quote for your exact dates and times.

The easiest way to find cheap Stansted Airport parking is to compare several car parks and as it so happens, this is something we’d be delighted to help you with at Cheap Airport Parking.

How Much Is Short Stay at Stansted Airport?

It depends on whether you're parking for your holiday or just popping in to drop someone off or pick them up.

For a holiday, pre-booking is the way to go. In our snapshot for a 7-day stay, you’ll often see Short Stay Blue Zone ranked as the cheapest Short Stay car park at Stansted Airport, with the Premium zones closest to the terminal usually being the dearest - as you may expect.

For picking someone up, Short Stay at Stansted Airport is priced by the hour, starting from £13 for up to 30 minutes and rising to £38 for up to 4 hours. If you're just dropping off, the Express Set Down area outside the terminal costs £10 for up to 15 minutes. These prices are set by the airport and can change.

If you don't mind a short bus ride, the Mid Stay car park is free for the first 60 minutes, which makes it the cheapest way to drop off or pick up, you can find out more about free drop off options here.

Is There a Discount Code for Stansted Airport Parking?

From time to time, yes. We run our own discount codes, which you can use on Stansted Airport parking booked through Cheap Airport Parking. You'll find whatever's currently available on our Cheap Airport Parking Discount Codes page.

Can I Just Turn Up and Park at Stansted Airport?

You can at Short Stay Blue, Short Stay Green and Mid Stay (space permitting), but it'll cost you. The turn-up rates at Stansted Airport are eye-watering compared with booking ahead. Not convinced? You can find the turn-up (pay at the gate) prices here. Yeah! We told you.

Long Stay, Meet & Greet and the Premium Short Stay zones (Orange, Red and Yellow) are pre-book only anyway, so if you're driving to Stansted, book before you go.

When Should I Book Stansted Airport Parking?

As early as you can. Prices tend to rise as spaces fill up, and the cheapest car parks are often the first to sell out, particularly during school holidays and around bank holidays.

Once you've booked, it's worth keeping an eye on prices. Most of the Park & Ride and independent Meet & Greet options at Stansted offer flexible booking, so if prices drop, you may be able to rebook for less.

How to Park Cheaply at Stansted Airport

There are a few ways to keep the cost down at Stansted Airport:

  • Choose Park & Ride. The independent Park & Ride car parks are usually the cheapest at Stansted, and with a bus journey of around 5 minutes, they’re generally pretty slick.
  • Book in advance. Turning up and paying on the day can cost several times more, if you’re reading this you’re probably far too sensible to do that anyway.
  • Compare Mid Stay with Long Stay. Long Stay isn't always the cheaper official option at Stansted.
  • Don't rule out Meet & Greet. The Official Meet & Greet can be surprisingly close in price to Park & Ride, so it's worth a look before you settle on a shuttle bus.
  • Check for a discount code. We run our own from time to time, so it's worth a quick look at our discount codes page before you book.

How Much Does It Cost to Park at Stansted Airport for a Week?

A week's parking at Stansted Airport can cost less than £60, or under £8.50 per day, when booked in advance (I Love Park & Ride was £59.00 in our price snapshot for a 7-day stay from 9th Nov to 16th Nov 2026). At the other end of the scale, the Premium Short Stay zones and independent Meet & Greet services can cost well over £100.

Prices vary considerably depending on the car park, your travel dates and how long you're away. Longer stays usually work out cheaper per day.

Where Can I Park Near Stansted Airport for Free?

We don't recommend leaving your car on nearby residential streets or in village car parks for the duration of your holiday. It's not fair on the people who live there, you risk a fine, and leaving your car unattended for days on end could put it at risk of anti social (or downright criminal) behaviour. If you’re considering doing this, do read around Reddit a little before you make up your mind.
